Toril Moi will participate in the Cavell conference at Harvard, organized by Bernie Rhie (Williams) and Richard Eldridge (Swarthmore). The conference is co-sponsored by PAL. She hopes to write a paper about the concept of the Other in Beauvoir, Cavell and Lévinas for the occasion. The conference begins with an event at the Humanities Center at Harvard in the evening of October 14, and continues with presentation and discussion of papers on October 15 and 16. On October 27 and 28 Toril Moi will give two lectures at the University of Urbana-Champaign. One lecture will be on theory, the other on Ibsen. The lectures are co-sponsored by the Unit for Criticism and the Scandinavian Program of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. More information will be posted nearer the time.
On November 4th Toril Moi will probably lead a seminar on the new translation of The Second Sex, and also, probably, give a lecture at NYU. More information will be posted later.

On February 10-11, 2011 Toril Moi will be the keynote speaker at the Simone de Beauvoir conference organized by the University of Florida’s Center for Women’s Studies and Gender Research. The tentative title of her paper is “‘The Taste of Another Life”: Beauvoir Between Philosophy and Literature.”
